The full desktop version of Moneydance is required to use this app. A free trial download of the desktop version is available from moneydance.com.
Moneydance uses strong AES encryption in addition to Dropbox's built-in encryption to ensure your finances are heavily protected while syncing.

Great App With Near-Fatal Flaw
I'll start by saying how much I love Moneydance. I've been using it for months now and it is simply the best personal financial software for the Mac. It is what Quicken for Mac should have been.
Moneydance for the iPhone was a brilliant idea. With it, I can easily enter transactions on the go and later synchronize them with my Mac-based Moneydance. At least, that's the theory. The data entry portion of this app is flawless. In fact, it is as easy to enter transactions on my iPhone as it is on my Mac. Clearly, the developers spent a lot of effort toward getting the user interface right. Well done! However, the synchronizing feature leaves much to be desired. My iPhone is supposed to automatically synchronize with my Mac, but it doesn't. Well, some times it does. Other times, I have to re-start the app over and over and over again before synchronization occurs. This is very frustrating! I recommend the developers give up on the whole "automatic" idea. I have two other apps, SplashID and DocsToGo, that use manual synchronizing and they have never failed me. I suspect that Moneydance for the iPhone will be every bit as reliable once it is changed to manual synchronizing.
As advertised. Updates need improvement

UPDATE #3: It has always stated the desktop version of moneydance was required. Don't trash on the app because you didn't read the entire description...
UPDATE #2: What's with the two star reviews? They don't make any claims to do anything you guys are complaining about. If there is a feature you want, send it to them. Don't bash a product that does exactly what it says it does and does it well. It's strictly a checkbook register. Not a life manager...
UPDATE: running balance is added and the rounding error is fixed in 1.3.
For free, it works as advertised. I agree with others on some missing functionality. It needs to show you a balance in the register after each transaction. How would one accurately know the balance if he has future transactions in the register? A button to force sync would be nice on both the iPhone and the desktop. Sure it happens automatically, but if something is changed after the sync, the software has to be exited and reopened to sync. Couldn't I just press a button instead?
Needs additional work

Syncing is problematic. Not intuitive. I've used MoneyDance on the computer and it's a great little program. Wanted to add it to my iPad to keep things mobile when needed but the syncing is not exactly what I expected. Yes, I've had issues, as have others. What my recommendation would be is to make the app automatically sync when it detects the computer program or at least notify you " Would you like to sync your data now?" or some such. This would be incredibly useful and has been done before in tons of other apps.
One other note that you should probably be aware of: there is NO WAY that I could see to DELETE transactions that have been entered into the iPad application. You can delete on the computer, but if you make a mistake or wish to delete a transaction on your iPad, you are out of luck.
